BAPTISM of the HOLY SPIRIT
Acts 19:2
"....Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?"
Many Christians are not aware that receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is an experience totally separate from salvation. Consequently, they miss out on a tremendous blessing that God intends each believer to have. The caller needs to have the Holy Spirit operating in their life, directing their steps and empowering them to live a victorious and fulfilling Christian life.
Here is an outline that can be used in leading someone into the Baptism:
1.Know what the Bible says about the Holy Spirit and you.
Acts 2:38, 39 “...and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."
2. Believe God wants to fill YOU with the Holy Spirit. Now you need to believe what the Bible says about the Holy Spirit and you. Most everything we receive from God requires us to trust Him for it. You are exercising your faith when you trust the Lord to fill you with the Holy Spirit.
Mark 9:23 "Jesus said to him, ‘if you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.’"
3. Receive the gift. You know God wants you to have the Holy Spirit. You believe that He will fill you with the evidence of other tongues. Now simply receive what God has already provided for you. This is a gift to you! You cannot work for it or earn it. Since it is a gift, much like your salvation, you need only accept the gift and say "thank you Lord in Jesus’ name." Notice that the Spirit gives utterance. But, He uses your voice, your lips and your tongue. If you will yield these to Him, you will quickly receive and begin speaking in tongues.
Acts 2:4 "And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."
Here are some things the individual needs to know about the Holy Spirit:
He is sent from God. (John 14:6) He will restore our bodies. (Rom. 8:11)
He is our guide. (John 16:13) He empowers us with boldness! (Acts1:8)
He was sent to comfort and teach. (John 14:26)
He administers the Gifts of the Spirit. (I Cor. 12:11)
Here are some things to know about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit:
It is for believers only. (John 14:7)
It edifies (builds us up). (I Cor. 14:4)
It is a gift for all believers. (Acts 2:38 & 39)
