Fasting Tips

As we fast corporately, here are some practical tips to equip you for the most faith-building experience possible. If you have a medical condition (hypoglycemia, pregnancy, etc.) or are on any medications, please talk with your healthcare provider regarding any questions you may have about fasting.

  • Have a purpose to fast.

  • Set a beginning and end time.

  • Have someone who you are accountable to if you are doing an extended fast.

  • If this is a new practice for you, begin slowly. Start by fasting for one day and increase the number of days over a period of time.

  • Drink a lot of water (or juice…if you’re doing a juice fast).

  • Set aside plenty of time for prayer during the fast.

  • Break your fast gently - with healthy foods - avocado, berries, broths.

  • Commit to making fasting a consistent part of your spiritual disciplines.
